Made the footwell panels with 18ga steel, the plan is for everything in the passenger compartment to be finished in steel rather then aluminum.

Also finally made the crossbraces that will hold the steering column, though not sure how thats actually going to be done safely

Made the seat mounts with 1.5" .120 wall square tube cut diagonally, each cut produced 2 tabs. Still need to make the other side.

Got the car up on stands, still to do is triangulation around the engine bay. There is alot of room under the sump for bracing but not sure what will be effective/how it should tie into the engine mounts.

Its starting to look car like! Super awesome project, and of course ill forever geek out on anything with a 1UZ.

Im almost fully prepped to pull the vvti engine out of my 99 ls . Youve pulled 1uz’s out of auto SC400s, where did you disconnect the shift linkage?

On the 4 speeds the shift lever goes through the floor, along the rh side of the trans is the actuation shaft that can be unbolted

Just grabbed a pic off the internet which more or less resembles what I see . The 5 speed a650e is basically the same as the 4 speed. The bolt here is where I tried to disconnect mine, and its a rusted mess.  I Pb blasted it, torched it, and pb blasted it again. The problem is putting a lot of effort just rotates the shift linkage. Death wheel might have to come out.

Just above that nut the linkage is held in with a pin that has a pull tab, you can also try disconnecting further south of the linkage closer to the shifter
